Everyone has their own musings that they long to encapsulate in words, and this is most often reflected in speech. Talking is after all, one of the most basic ways humans interact, and thus connect, with one another. But talking also generates noise, and under layers and layers of conversation our own thoughts can often be drowned out by the enthusiasm of others.

Have you ever thought of what happens if you are unable to think in the form of words? A picture is worth a thousand words, but what is a picture without the ability to articulate its nature? In Romeo and Juliet, the argument that "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" is raised, and it is indisputable, backed on the very basis of different languages supplying different ways of referring to one same flower. So why are words such an essential form of expression? Just like the striking bold colour of a rose petal resonates a recognition within us, the word "red" brings about similar associations in our minds. The repercussion of losing the ability to think in words thus seems.. lessened, after all we have images that work as a replacement.

But many other things work as replacements. Music, wordless symphonic melodies; Art, poetic splashes of paint hinting at intangible concepts; touch, physical, palpable skin-on-skin contact that tugs at our heartstrings for unknown reasons. Does that mean that we can relinquish words without any regrets? It is merely another form of expression, and we certainly aren't lacking any, yet people cling onto it for its capacity to be understood, revered, feared, accepted. Words can be said to hold societies, economies and systems together, creating chains of friendship, love and cooperation. The power of words should never be underestimated, should it now?

Thus, Angelspace is launched as a... pet project of mine, I would say. Many peers and people around me tend to be attracted to stunning visuals and flashing signs, and I can see the beauty in it. At the same time, I wish to cater to those who prefer words through a more silent medium.

So use Angelspace as you will, a place to view, to read, or to connect with your aesthetic, your thoughts, or me and my musings, the anonymous figure behind another screen.
